Nonverbal theatre department Music and dance faculty (HAMU) Academy of performing arts in Prague

The Department of Nonverbal Theatre is one of the youngest artistic and pedagogical departments of the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts. By combining classical and younger genres, the curriculum continues the tradition of Czech pantomime and offers a modern concept of mime theatre that responds to the present. Teaching is focused primarily on students‘ original work. The department offers education with a wide range of applications in the professional artistic sphere, but also in other working sectors of society (e.g. pedagogy, adult education, cultural management, etc.).
In this context, the department represents a professional training institution of mime art with international significance. It is a university training institution that provides Czech and foreign artists with a platform for cooperation and further development of mime art and represents the Czech Republic in the ever-expanding international network of professional art schools.
